New Purpose: Fall 2025,
HARP is being re-designed to offer the most extensive information about Haitian art, Haitian artists and Haitian art History as fast as possible with the most images, documents, citations and links.
Our objective is to show the vast variety of Haitian Art not just the best known artists. This is still an interactive Haitian Art Research site. User will have access to my spreadsheets as a commenter and be able to add, correct, and comment directly in Google sheets, as long as they are signed in on a google mail account.
Purpose: In 2021 HARP was created to solicit, curate, archive data and disseminate information about all types of Haitian Art, describing Haitian Art’s historical development, citing people involved, soliciting data contributions and historic materials from enthusiasts and interested parties.
This is an interactive Haitian Art research site, seeking contributions from knowledgeable folks. We are trying to conserve the tribal knowledge of Haitian art aficionados, seeking to preserve information that otherwise would be lost.
To proceed to the new section of HARP, with a list of 2,000 +/- artists, 1,000 +/- resources (Print, Audio and Video) and an image database of 20,000 jpgs managed in Light Room Classic, with an extensive keyword list applying to both art images and document jpgs.. This new section is in process and will be added to on a daily basis. Completion is expected in April of next year.

Our Methodology
Our methodology is to lay out an open structure wherein you can contribute your knowledge, research and or recollections about Haitian Art. Open structure means enrollees can add information or critique existing information or contribute totally new sets of information, resource or person. Input forms are available on the various database pages. These forms are designed with required and optional data points for each type of input.
To simplify matters we have created three main information streams:
People – The searchable People database represents those persons involved; such as Artists, Pioneers and Supporters.
Resources – The searchable Resources database covers Print, Video, and Audio material
Art – The searchable Art image database is composed of art object images.
You can participate by Enrolling below either as an Enthusiast, which allows you to view and follow the entire site and participate in all the forum discussions, or enroll as a Research Fellow. As a Research Fellow you would be expected to contribute information and materials to the site as well as be able to benefit from all the information and activities on the site.
ENROLL to participate, as an Enthusiast or Research Fellow, in the Haitian Art Research Project. We are not seeking massive enrollment, rather a core group of committed, open hearted, sharing, knowledgeable Haitian Art Enthusiasts.
Privacy Policy, absolutely no selling, sharing, public use, leaking or other use of any personal information. Communication Policy, Max 12 emails per year, except for those subscribed to the blog, a subscription that can be switched on and off.

my Apologies and some of our shortcomings
This is an image and data dense site, and probably impossible on a phone. I tried my best to make this as simple as possible for the techno-challenged. I have no money for coding, so the three databases are not integrated, even though they are cross indexed. Many keywords and photos credits were lost in transfer between two photo management applications. Many of the French accents have regrettably also fallen by the wayside. One issue is to make search as simple as possible, though properly accented names can generally be found in the alternate spelling cells. Lastly, apologies for the lack of Kreyol. Eventual intent is to make this a bi-lingual site. (Volunteer Kreyol scholar being sought)
